Anet’s shoddy workmanship has made this the most subpar expansion of the three; elite specializations are easy to pick up but lack original traits, and the animations are recycled. The story also receives the lowest rating of any expansion, with its rushed second half and cringe-worthy writing. The maps also fail to live up to their GW1 counterparts with Seitung Province exuding a nostalgic Canthan atmosphere while New Kaineng City is a lackluster, barren and incomplete mess. The Echovald Wilds appear more like a Heart of Thorns map while Arborstone is similar to Sun’s Refuge and brings nothing new to the table.

The new masteries introduced in 2 Dragons are a mixed bag. The Skiff mastery is a waste of mastery points and adds little to the GW2 experience while Fishing is more engaging than anticipated but still remains a grindy, luck-based distraction. The Jade Bot mastery is one of the better new masteries, offering some tactical options while Dive/deep bombs offer no real value in Skiff mastery line. The Siege Turtle is amusing but mostly impractical for actual content and the Sailing Skiff adds nothing except for fishing purposes. Fishing food only boosts fishing capabilities.

2 Dragons also introduces new Legendaries which allow players to alter the appearance of their dragon with various options available. Meta events are better than in Path of Fire but not as good as Heart of Thorns’ while Strike Missions are a nice addition to the game. Side achievements/stories are written to an exceptional standard with Zuunra, Marjory family, and Zu Heltzer stories included for players to explore. Reviews have scored Heart of Thorns 9/10, Path of Fire 8/10, and End of Dragons 6.5/10 making it the worst rated expansion yet.

In conclusion, 2 Dragons fails to live up to its predecessors in many ways due to Anet’s shoddy workmanship. Elite specializations have clumsy mechanics at times and lack original traits while animations are recycled from previous games. The maps fail to deliver an authentic GW1 feel with Jade Sea map offering little Jade Sea content as expected. Meta events lack complexity that was present in Heart of Thorns while Story contains a bizarre mashup of fanfiction and American group therapy elements. New Legendaries allow you to alter the appearance of your dragon with various options available but overall 2 Dragons lacks quality and finesse compared to previous expansions making it the worst rated expansion yet.
